Diep Chan Hung, chairman of Cam Binh Commune Farmers’ Association, a lobster raise in Binh Ba Hamlet, said, “With 10 cages of 3,000 lobsters, we has just sold at VND600 million, earning more than VND200 million. Other raisers in my hamlet and commune enjoy a bumper crop of lobsters.”

Another raiser in Binh Ba Hamlet named Nguyen Van Quang, also said that despite the unfavorable weather of prolonged drought and flood, lobsters raised in cages in Cam Binh Commune were kept safe. Investing more than VND3 billion to raise 55 cages of 16,500 lobsters, his family has sold at over VND3.6 billion, earning VND600 million. Lobster price went down to VND600,000/kg in June and July, and has risen to VND750,000/kg. This current price brings good profit for raisers.
According to Nguyen An, chairman of Cam Binh Commune People’s Committee, the whole commune has 1,300 households, 95% of whom are lobster raisers with 4,600 cages in total. In this crop, 200 tons of lobsters have been sold out.
The bumper crop of lobsters promises a well-off lunar new year festival (Tet) in Cam Binh. People in the island commune are thrilled for Tet.
