Revival of Ninh Lam field

After being put into use for 2 years, the channel system in the south of Hoa Son Water Reservoir have supplied water for Ninh Lam field in two hamlets of Ninh Lam and Diem Dien (in Van Khanh Commune, Van Ninh District, Khanh Hoa Province)

After being put into use for 2 years, the channel system in the south of Hoa Son Water Reservoir have supplied water for Ninh Lam field in two hamlets of Ninh Lam and Diem Dien (in Van Khanh Commune, Van Ninh District, Khanh Hoa Province). The field fallowed for 10 years has been revived as crops are growing well.
 

 

A farmer named Nguyen Dinh Cung in Ninh Lam Hamlet said that he has grown rice on nearly 1 hectare of Ninh Lam field. During the past two years, the water supply owing to the channel in the south of Hoa Son Water Reservoir has helped him to cultivate two rice crops with productivity of 65 quintals/hectare, earning about VND20 million a year.

Another farmer named Nguyen Hung Anh in Ninh Lam Hamlet shared that his 2-hectare field fallowed before earns him about VND60 million each year now by cultivating 3 crops a year. “The channel has made good effect. It has improve the living for tens of household in my commune”, he added.
 
 
According to Tran Van De, chairman of Van Khanh Commune Farmers’ Association, Ninh Lam field covers an area of 120 hectares. Most of the areas were fallowed before due to lack in water. In 2014, North Khanh Hoa Irrigation Management Ltd Company built the channel system N.21 in the south of Hoa Son Water Reservoir with the length of 1km. Putting into operation since 2015, the channel system has supplied enough water for 2 – 3 farming crops a year on 80 hectares with productivity of 60 quintals/hectares. Therefore, farmers here were very delighted.
