The Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (Vietcombank), the Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade (Vietinbank) and Cam Ranh International Terminal JSC on February 27 signed a credit contract for the project Cam Ranh airport’s international terminal. Le Thanh Quang - Central Party Committee Member, Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee Secretary and Tran Son Hai – Permanent Vice-chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee attended the signing ceremony, which took place in Nha Trang.

Loans of nearly VND3,000 billion
 
The project of Cam Ranh Airport’s international terminal is estimated to be invested VND3,735 billion by Cam Ranh International Terminal JSC. Under the signed credit contract, the two banks will provide loans of VND2,988 billion, which makes up 80% of the total investment of the project.
 
According to Phan Le Hoan – General Director of Cam Ranh International Terminal JSC, Director of Cam Ranh International Airport, in recent years, the number of passengers via Cam Ranh International Airport has made a sharp rise. In 2016 particularly, the rise was 78%. In the first two months of 2017, Cam Ranh International Airport has received 1 million passengers, increasing by 36% year-on-year. Cam Ranh International Airport sets target of 6 million passengers in 2017, including 3 million international ones. Therefore, building the international terminal is urgent.
 
The project Cam Ranh International Terminal JSC is consulted construction by CPG Consultants Pte Ltd, PAE Co., Ltd. and the Airport Design and Construction Consultancy Company (ADCC). It has started construction since September 8, 2016.
 
The project, expected to be able to welcome 8 million passengers a year, will be executed in two phases.  The first phase, to be executed in 18 months and put into operation in the first quarter of 2018, can serve 2,000 passengers at the same time and 4 million passengers each year. The second phase is expected to be finished in 2030.

Speeding up progress of the project
 
At the signing ceremony, Vietcombank Chairman Nghiem Xuan Thanh committed the bank will implement all responsibilities in the signed credit contract and provide loans sufficiently, timely and reasonably for the project to be developed successfully. Vietinbank Deputy General Director Nguyen Dinh Vinh also committed to ensure loans and incentives for the project.
 
Tran Son Hai – Permanent Vice-chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee – confirmed at the meeting that Cam Ranh International Airport is very significant to the development of the province. In the situation of the sharp increase in service and tourism in Khanh Hoa, the province expects Cam Ranh International Terminal JSC to speed up the project’ excution for its first phase to start operation sooner than planned, and invest in the second phase sooner. The province will facilitate executing the project.
 
Nguyen Hanh, president of Imex Pan Pacific Group and Cam Ranh International Terminal JSC also said that the company will try to finish the project sooner than planned. In several coming years, Imex Pan Pacific Group particularly plans to bring 2 million international passengers via the airport.
