During the past five years, Farmers’ Association of Cam Lam District (Khanh Hoa Province) has made efforts in propagandizing, mobilizing and developing collective economy in agriculture.

Cooperative groups operate effectively

According to Nguyen Lai, Chairman of Cam Lam District Farmers’ Association, the district now has 21 cooperative groups. All of them are in farming, like industrial trees, fruit trees, breeding, aquaculture, service, material supply, farm product sales. Each group has 5 – 15 members. They aim to support each other in production and trading.

The cooperative group of chicken breeding in Cam An Bac Commune is an effective model. The group was established in 2009, invested by CP Vietnam Corporation that undertakes breeders, foodstuff for chicken and output. Now, the group has 14 members with 3 farms worth VND3.8 billion. Each of the farms raises about 12,000 chickens. All the farms are built firmly and have cooling system for chickens. Diep Duc Quyen, head of the cooperative group, shared, “In the support of farmers’ associations, from 2010 to 2015, the group got loans from the Farmer Supporting Fund to help its members to expand production and trading. Members in the group often exchange experience and access new techniques in chicken breeding. The three farms earn an interest of about VND2.5 billion each year. The group also creates stable jobs for 30 local laborers with average income of VND4.5 million/person/month.”

Other cooperative groups like Thanh Dat plough in Suoi Cat Commune, Gia Long plough, Hung Nguyen chicken breeding in Cam Tan Commune, daisy growing in Cam Duc Township, Van Tu plough in Cam Hoa Commune, etc. have also operated effectively.

Reportedly, from the capital of farmer supporting funds, the Farmers’ Association of Cam Lam District has helped 21 cooperative groups to get loans of over VND4 billion. Then, many cooperative groups have operated effectively and many farmers have made rich or become good producers.
