Under the permission of Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee, the first congress of Khanh Hoa Agarwood Association was organized on May 25. The establishment of the association is a necessary step for the sustainable development of agarwood industry in Khanh Hoa Province.
According to Bien Quoc Dung, director of Tram Huong Bien Quoc Dung Co., Ltd., Khanh Hoa Agarwood Association is a social, professional organization with voluntary participation of Vietnamese citizens and units in Khanh Hoa in researching, producing, processing and trading agarwood and products from agarwood. The association aims to create the cooperation, connection and support among members; build the province’s agarwood industry effectively, safely and sustainably.
Khanh Hoa Agarwood Association comprises members of honor and official members. Members of honor are scientists and administrators having influence on the forming and development of agarwood in Vietnam. Main members are business owners, representatives of cooperatives, farm owners, scientists, managers and households operating in fields related to agarwood and products from agarwood.

After the congress, Khanh Hoa Agarwood Association will complete its organization as well as conditions ensuring operation. Especially, the association will coordinate with Vietnam Agarwood Association and the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to organize about techniques to create agarwood and agarwood oil from aquilaria trees.
At present, the whole Khanh Hoa Province has about 350 hectares, mainly in Khanh Vinh, Ninh Hoa, Van Ninh and Dien Khanh. In the time to come, the association will support members to step up agarwood production with high quality products from agarwood like handicrafts, souvenir gifts, agarwood incense.
Beside this, the association will also support tourism activities related to agarwood to promote Khanh Hoa agarwood to tourists. For example, in the third quarter of 2017, the association will operate tour to agarwood land in Ninh Hoa and Van Ninh. The association also encourages members to open more stores selling products from agarwood for tourists.
With the establishment of Khanh Hoa Agarwood Association, agarwood industry in the province will develop sustainably.
