Northern Van Phong Port on the verge of construction

People’s Committee of Khanh Hoa Province has agreed 1/500 planning of Northern Van Phong Port project in Dam Mon Hamlet, Van Thanh Commune, Van Ninh District. The project’s investor is making preparations to start its construction.

 

Northern Van Phong Port project will be invested by Van Phong Port Company Limited with VND417 billion for the first phase. The project will cover 42.75 hectares, including 20.6 hectares of water surface. The project aims to build a multifunctional port to serve export – import industrial zones in Khanh Hoa Province and neighboring provinces. The port will be invested in two phases. Initially, a 50.000DWT wharf will be set up. Then, a international container port will be built. 

 

Recently, the provincial People’s Committee directed the provincial Department of Transport to check the planning to verify legality of the project. After checking, the provincial Department of Transport confirmed that the project of Northern Van Phong Port is in accord with the planning of Van Phong International Transit Port. 

 

Hoang Dinh Phi, manager of Van Phong Economic Zone also said that the Northern Van Phong Port is wholely corresponding in function, location and planning.

 

 

 

Nha Trang Port has been adopted to change into a tourist port. Therefore, the Northern Van Phong Port is expected to receive cargos instead of Nha Trang Port in the future, ensuring shipping in Khanh Hoa Province as well as the Southern Central and Highland region. 

 

According to Director of Khanh Hoa Department of Transport Nguyen Cong Dinh, the investor of the project has done ground clearance completely. When its construction license is granted, the investor will start construction in this year.

 

Northern Van Phong Port is expected to be a new impetus to forward the development in the north of Van Phong when it’s put into operation.
