As irrigational system plays a role to the development, Khanh Hoa Province has oriented the local irrigational planning to be multi-objective with the aim to preserve and develop the water resource sustainably.
With the support of the Government, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and international organization, Khanh Hoa Province has built up 211 irrigational works to water more than 18,000 hectares of plants. The irrigational works also supply water for aquaculture, industry and living.
The whole province has 10 water reservoirs for industry with total capacity of 9 million m3/year and 63 water supply works.
In the period of 2011 – 2015, 17 irrigational works invested more than VND1,012 billion in total were put into operation. The scientific application into irrigation showed good growth with a lot of advanced technologies. The effective investment in irrigational works have contributed much in increasing farming productivity, reducing flood and drought risks, and then forwarding the development of the province.
According to Le Xuan Thai – Deputy Manager of the Irrigational Agency, the provincial People’s Committee has ratified the project amending Irrigational Planning of Khanh Hoa Province in the period of 2015 – 2025 and view to 2035. It aims to check over the irrigational system of the province, prevent and reduce national diasasters, ensure drainage, protect environment, etc. Accordingly, the whole province will have 5 irrigational areas, including Van Ninh, Cai River in Ninh Hoa, Cai River in Nha Trang, Cam Lam – Cam Ranh, and To Hap.
In the period of 2016 – 2025, the province will upgrade and strengthen canals of 40 irrigational works (Suoi Luong lake, Suoi Lon lake), build 27 water supply works (Dong Dien, Song Bung, Cha Rang)…In the period of 2021 – 2025, channels of 20 irrigational works will be upgraded, 10 water supply works will be built up…After 2025, there will be 29 more water supply works…
