With advantages in various natural resource, mineral and industries, Khanh Hoa Province has many products to develop the national program “One commune, one product” (OCOP), which also has contributed in building new rural area in the province.
According to statistics of the provincial Rural Development Branch, the province has 30 strong products in 6 groups of food (20 kinds), beverage (2), herbal (1), souvenir – interior – decoration (5) and rural tourism service (3). Some products have stable specific growing areas like sugarcan; some have reached VietGAP standards like Ninh Dong vegetable, Dac Loc vegetable, etc.; some have trademark or been recognized as typical products…
Some fresh farm products are vegetable, garlic, mango, star apple, big-rooted taro, durian, grape-fruit, coconut, etc. Some kinds of meat are ostrich, Ninh Hoa bantam, etc. Some kinds of foodstuff are fish sauce, dried seafood, seaweed, spring roll, fermented port roll, vermicelli, etc. Some drinks are coffee, sangalange nest drinks, etc. Souvenirs are aloe wood, things made from stone, bronze, handicrafts, etc. With the diversity of kinds and products, Khanh Hoa Province has a lot of potentials to develop “One commune, one product” program.
According to Truong Huu Lan, Head of the Rural Development Branch, the province has many policies to encourage agricultural production and rural industries to create local special products and jobs for rural laborers, raise income and improve living of farmers.
To support businesses to develop products, from now to the end of the year, the province will step up trading promotion and create opportunities for producers to present products at exhibitions. In the period of 2018 - 2020, the province will invest to develop main products of communes, orient each commune or each group of communes to set up a main product, which was selected among typical rural products in 2013 and 2015 or products of traditional trade villages, or fresh farm products.
Besides, the province suggests the Central supporting in stepping up trade promotion program, forwarding tourism development, developing market for products of the OCOP program, arranging capital for the OCOP program, training for the management staff of the program…
