Supporting farmers effectively

During the past five years, beside fishing, Huynh Van An (in Thuy Trieu Hamlet, Cam Hai Dong Commune) have raised chickens. Initailly, due to capital lack, he could raise some chickens. In 2015, borrowing VND10 million from the Fund for Supporting Farmers, he expanded his breeding. “I’m raising around 200 chickens. After expenses, we earn about VND70 - 80 million/year. With low interest rates, it can support farmers to overcome difficulties”, An said.

Cam Hai Dong Commune is one of communes where management of the fund for supporting farmers has been done well. According to Lam Thi Hoang Phuong, chairwoman of the commune Farmers’ Association, till early July, 2017, the association has lent 19 households with VND158 million in total. The fund from the district Farmers’ Association also has lent 10 households with VND200 million. Many households have used the loans effective and paid debts on schedule.
 
In end 2015, the cooperative group lent VND400 million from the fund to grow daisies. The group took course in planting. Therefore, daisy growing has developed. Every year, each member in the group grows several hundreds to over 4,000 pots of flowers if the weather is favorable. After expenses, each earns several tens of million VND at least or up to over VND150 million.
 
Also by the fund for supporting farmers, many other farming models have also worked well.
 
In the whole Cam Lam District, the fund for supporting farmers has lent 361 households with over VND8.1 billion. The farmers’ associations have managed and supervised loans well. The supported models and projects worked well and created jobs for many local laborers.
