Coming to houses of members in the coconut broom production cooperative group in My Thanh Hamlet, Cam Thinh Dong Commune, we saw busy working atmosphere. Families with 3 – 4 members each are promptly making brooms. 
 
A member of the coconut broom production cooperative group named Le Dong Nhat said that coconut broom sales are good now. They are sold for buyers in Nha Trang, Dien Khanh, Cam Ranh, even Phan Rang, Gia Lai, etc. Sometimes his family work till 1 - 2 am to make enough for clients. After expenses, a broom can earn him VND3,000 – 3,500. His family with three people produce 150 coconut brooms a day, earning about VND500,000 a day. When receiving so many orders, he hired some more laborers in the hamlet. “In rainy season, coconut brooms sell very well. Making coconut brooms has brought our family main income for several years. Thanks to it, we have money to repair our house and raise my child at university in Ho Chi Minh City”, Nhat shared.
 
Near Nhat’s house was Vo Thi Kim Ha’s house where her family were working hard to produce coconut brooms timely for a big order when we came. Ha also said that all expenditure for her family and her chidren’s sutdy is relied on making brooms.

According to Chau Thi Lan, head of the coconut broom production cooperative group in Cam Thinh Dong Commune, the group was established in 2013 with 12 members. Inititally, the group aimed to create jobs for women and the elderly. Now, producing coconut brooms has become the main income for the members, with at least VND4 million/person/month. Many members have expanded production, creating jobs for about 60 local laborers. At start-up time, each member was aided VND6 million and lent VND8 million for production. Owning to good production, all member have returned their loans to bank.
 
According to Dang Van Thu, chairman of Cam Thinh Dong Commune People’s Committee, the commune has some production cooperative groups. The coconut broom cooperative group has operated the best and supported members well. Owning to the cooperation, the members have more customers and shared them with each other. With big orders, they share production with each other.
