Moon cake market 2017 is blooming with a lot of booths in streets as well as at markets and supermarkets. This year, producers have launched many kinds of stuffing for moon cakes such as abalone, crab, crayfish, red bean, wine, etc. Many products also use isomalt for people on diet.
 
According to Nguyen Thanh Hai, director of Sanest Foods Factory (under Khanh Hoa Salangane Nest Company), the factory plans to produce 1.6 million moon cakes for this mid-autumn season, increasing by 45% over the figure last year. This season, beside products as previous years, Khanh Hoa Salangane Nest Company has launched some new kinds of stuffing made from abalone, caviar, kiwi and peach. Moon cake sales of Khanh Hoa Salangane Nest Company enjoy a sharp increase this year. Up to now, the sales have fulfilled 81% of the target. The company has 3,200 selling spots, 195 of which are in Khanh Hoa.

Kinh Do and Bibica have some new kinds of cakes for this mid-autumn festival. Kinh Do has flavor of crab sauced in Singaporean style, Mochi-styled cakes, etc. Bibica has new flavors like tropical fruits, shark fin, abalone, caviar, lobster, salangane nest, etc.
 
Supermarkets like Co.opMart Nha Trang, Lotte Mart and Big C also have their own moon cake products. 
 
According to some sellers, purchase power has increased over that last year. Moon cake prices have a slight increase of 5% - 10% due to the higher prices of sugar, flour and other materials.
 
From early August, the provincial Department of Industry and Trade has inspected food safety management during the mid-autumn festival season. Food safety check focuses on markets, supermarkets, malls and manufacture places.
 
As planned, the inspection of the provincial Department of Industry and Trade and the provincial Market Management Agency will check 181 manufacture places of moon cakes as well as confectionery.
