According to Le Hong Son, deputy director of Nha Trang Railway, train schedule for Tet starts from February 2, 2018 to March 4, 2018. Train tickets for that time was opened sale at 8 am, October 15 at the website www.dsvn.vn, railway stations, ticket selling spots and agents.
On the North - South route, there will be 15 pairs of trains during this occasion, including 10 on Hanoi – Ho Chi Minh City route (SE1/SE2, SE3/SE4, SE5/SE6, SE7/SE8, SE13/SE14, SE9/SE10, TN5/TN6, SE29/SE30, TN3/TN4 and TN7/TN8), 1 on Da Nang – Ho Chi Minh route (SE21/SE22), 1 on Thanh Hoa – Ho Chi Minh City (SE23/SE24), 2 on Hanoi – Vinh (SE11/SE12 and SE15/SE16), and 1 on Dong Hoi – Ho Chi Minh City (SE17/SE18).
There will be 24 pairs of trains on following routes: Ho Chi Minh City – Quang Ngai, Ho Chi Minh City – Quy Nhon, Ho Chi Minh City – Nha Trang, Ho Chi Minh City – Phan Thiet, Hanoi – Lao Cai, Hanoi – Vinh, and Hanoi – Hai Phong. In addition, during the Lunar New Year festival, there will be 9 pairs of trains on following routes: Ho Chi Minh City – Tam Ky, Ho Chi Minh City – Hue, Ho Chi Minh City – Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City – Dieu Tri, and Ho Chi Minh City – Nha Trang. In case the number of passengers rises far more, the railway department will add more trains and more carriages.
As expected, on January 1, 2018, 30 more new trains will be put into operation.

On routes from 1,000 km on SE trains, 30% discount will be given to tickets bought 30 days in advance for travel time January 26, 2018 to February 14, 2018 (to even number trains) and February 19, 2018 to March 9, 2018 (to odd number trains). Ticket prices of lower berth will made a rise of 3% - 5%.
The peak periods are the 20th - the 29th of the last lunar month to odd number trains and the 4th – the 16th of the first lunar month next year. Train ticket fares will increase by 5% on average. The highest increase of 20% will fall on short journeys from Ho Chi Minh City to Quy Nhon. However, empty directions from Da Nang to Ho Chi Minh City will enjoy 10% discount on ticket fares.
Refund fee will be 30% during the peak time from February 5, 2018 to February 18, 2018 to odd number trains and from February 19, 2018 to March 3, 2018 to even number trains. Refund fee in other time is still 10%.
