To ensure food safety on the lunar new year festival (Tet), the provincial departments have been implementing a working plan. Accordingly, from now to March 25, inspection on food production, trading, import and use will be concentrated. Following is an interview Khanh Hoa News made with Nguyen Dinh Thoan, deputy director of the provincial Department of Health.

- Could you let us know about the plan and its specific contents?

- The provincial Department of Health will coordinate with approriate authorities to propagandize regulations on requirements of hygiene, equipment and devices in production and food processing; propagandize producers to ensure preservation and trading food products for Tet.

To consumers, approriate authorities in coordination with media propagandize ways to buy safe food, to read labels of products, to process food safely, not to store so much food, etc.

Beside propaganda, the authorities will intensify inspection. Inspection groups at the provincial level will inspect food producers, traders and importers, markets, supermarkets, commercial centers, restaurants, etc. in practicing regulations on food safety. Inspection groups at district level will inspect food producers and sellers in their localities.

The inspection will focus on three kinds of business, including food producing and trading establishments, food service establishment and street food. To food producing and trading establishments, we will check certificate for food safety, product labels, processing, preservation, etc. To food service establishment, we will check origin of materials and additions, water for food processing, etc.

While checking, we will also propagandize the awareness of and regulations on food safety to traders and processors. Violations will be punished strictly to ensure food safety and make consumers feel secure on Tet holiday.

- Thank you for joining us!
