According to Phan Thanh Liem, director of Khanh Hoa Investment Promotion and Bussiness Support Center, 2017 was a successful year to investment promotion of the province. The province contacted with a lot of companies and groups in some countries, especially Japan. The provincial People’s Committee held conference “Meet Japan - Southern Central Vietnam” successfully on October 6 and 7, 2017. Then, the province’s mission attended conferences on promoting investment into Khanh Hoa held in Osaka and Tokyo (Japan) in November, 2017. Such conferences and exchanges were opportunities to introduce the province’s policies on attracting investment. Foreign businesses, especially Japanese businesses, highly appreciated advantages and potentials of Khanh Hoa Province in general and Nha Trang in specific. Besides, the center also supported investors in procedure for investment as well as supplied information to investors survey about the province.
Continuing the results in 2017 and strengthening ties with Japanese partners and businesses, the province will step up connecting and promoting investment with Japanese businesses. At present, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is making plan with special activites to celebrate 45 years of Vietnam – Japan relationship in 2018. Khanh Hoa Province also will organize some activities with the support of Vice-chairman of BMHI Company Hiroyuki Hotta and Chairman of ASEAN Urban Environment Development Association Toyoharu Fujimoto.
In early 2018, the province will work the Department of Foreign Affairs (under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs) to suggest the provincial People’s Committee taking part in some activities to celebrate 45 years of the Vietnam – Japan relationship in Japan. Then, the province will determine the suitable time to organize the investment promotion conference in Japan, and discuss with the Japanese Business Association in Vietnam about its program, time and location.
Two investment promotion conferences are expected to be held in Khanh Hoa in April, 2018 and in Japan in the third quarter of 2018.
“In the conferences in 2017, Japanese businesses were interested in investment environment, lists of projects calling for investment and investment policies. It was a success when Japanese businesses paid attention to Nha Trang. I hope more memoranda and contracts between businesses in Khanh Hoa and Japan will be signed in 2018, making the relationship become long-term economic cooperation”, Liem said.
