Do Huu Hoang Dieu (in Thanh Minh 3 Hamlet, Dien Lac Commune, Dien Khanh District) confided that his family had lacked fresh water before, especially in dry seasons. Being introduced by the commune Farmers’ Association, he was lent to install fresh water system and do farming. His family has grown an fruit garden. Up to now, his family has been better and shared fresh water with many people. “ I desire to borrow VND30 million from the bank after paying all the old debt to raise cows and growing. Loans have helped my family’ living better”, Dieu said.

After being lent policy credit for 3 years, Do Huu Minh (in Dien Lac Commune) has a house with a herd of productive cows and 50 hens. Minh said that given a loan of VND30 million from the job creation program, he and his wife set up a farm of raising cows and chickens. Up to now, the farm earns him about VND100 million each year.

According to Nguyen Huu Nghia, Chairman of Dien Lac Commune, the policy credit has helped local poor households to develop production to escape poverty sustainbly. The rate of poor households and near poor households in the commune has decreased to 8.88% from 16.2% in 2016. In the time to come, the commune will keep facilitating the poor households and policy households to get loans from the bank.

Le Van Thanh, Deputy director of the transaction office of the Bank for Social Policies in Dien Khanh District, said that the transaction office has lent more than 18,600 policy beneficiaries to do production with total credit balance of more than VND269 billion, contributing into building new rural area, lowering the rate of poor households in the district to 2.82% from 8.83% in 2011. In the time to come, the transaction office will disburse credit timely for capital demand of borrowers.

Otherwise, to improve the credit quality, the transaction office verifies borrowers before giving loans. After that, the bank checks if they used loan at right purposes. The bank also holds trainning classes to guide farmers to choose models suitably, techniques in growing and breeding to activate loans effectively.
