From the beginning of 2017 – 2020 term up to now, Cooperative Alliance of Khanh Hoa Province has showed the main role in forward the development of cooperative economy.

The whole province has more than 100 cooperatives in most fields, but the cooperative economy of the province has no breakthrough development in comparison with other sectors.

However, from the beginning of the year up to now, there have been  good signs in the cooperative economy. In January, 2018, the provincial People’s Committee has ratified the project to produce high-quality rice for Ngoc Quang Rice of Ninh Quang Agircultural Cooperative. The expenditure for this project is over VND1.5 billion for the period of 2018 – 2020. This has helped Ngoc Quang Rice being granted sole patent by the National Office of Intellectual Property of Vietnam and certificated to be qualified for food safety by the Agro-forestry-Fisheries Quality Assurance Department.

The People’s credit units have also made remarkable growth. The whole province has 4 People’s credit funds with total operation capital of over VND173.5 billion. The funds are operating stably and effectively, lending mainly for agriculture, aquaculture, trading, traditional industries, etc.

In non-agriculture, production, trading and service of mechanics, construction, handicraft and transport keep leading in cooperative economy. For example, Vinh Phuoc handicraft cooperative has improved products, relied by Japan and Europe, to create jobs for more than 2,000 local leisure laborers. Vinh Thai cooperative has carried out a lot of construction projects, improved infrastructures and large cemeteries in Cam Lam District and Cam Ranh City. Phuoc Tan Construction Cooperative continues multi-field services like construction, transport, guest houses, travel, etc. to create stable jobs and income for members.

The provincial Cooperative Alliance and the mission of Vietnam Cooperative Alliance jointly surveyed and chose the cooperative qualified to join the model of cooperatives developing production linking with value chains. Son Binh fruit tree cooperative, Khanh Son fruit tree cooperative and Vinh Ngoc mushroom cooperative have been chosen to join this project in 2018. These cooperative will be given VND250 million each and lent with preferential interest rate of 5.13%/year by the fund for development support of the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance. As planned, in 2019 and 2020, the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance will continue choosing VietGAP safe vegetable cooperative and Ninh Quang Agricultural Cooperative to take part in the project.
