Aquaculture planning on Van Phong Bay

The People's Council of Khanh Hoa Province has launched a planning to develop the aquaculture of the province till 2025 and view to 2035.

The People's Council of Khanh Hoa Province has launched a planning to develop the aquaculture of the province till 2025 and view to 2035. An important part is the aquaculture on Van Phong Bay.

 
According to the planning, the aquaculture area in Xuan Tu Hamlet, Van Hung Commune covers about 120 hectares with about 2,000 traditional cages, away from Trao Reef Marine Reserve. The raising area in Co Co rivulet, Van Thanh Commune has 100 – 120 hectares, stretching from Da Son to Bai Tranh with 2000 cages which area traditional or industrial in Norwegian style. The raising area in Bai Nam – Bai Sau in Khai Luong Hamlet, Van Thanh Commune has about 100 hectares with 1,500 traditional cages and 50 Norwegian-style industrial cages. Cua Lon raising area has 50 – 60 hectares with about 150 Norwegian-style industrial cages. Nam Hon Ong raising area has about 100 hectares with about 1,500 traditional cages. Hon Vung raising area has about 50 hectares with about 1,000 traditional cages.

Main fisheries raised in ponds are white-leg shrimps and sweet snails while those raised in sea are lobsters, fish and pearls.
 
According to Dam Ngoc Quang, vice-chairman of Van Ninh District People’s Council, some other areas potential for aquaculture in the district are Bai Bua – Bai Gao, Vung Sim, the south of Cum Meo island and the south of Hon Vung island.
