Attracting a lot of projects
Van Phong Economic Zone has attracted 157 projects with total investment of USD4.02 billion, including 42 projects using sea surface, mainly in ship building, sea port building, aquaculture and tourism. On average, the economic zone delivers about VND4,834.4 billion a year, making up 33% of the province’s State budget and creating stable jobs for more than 6,000 laborers.
A lot of motive projects on marine have been developed like Hyundai Vinashin Shipyard Factory, Van Phong Petrol Bonded Warehouse, Van Phong Ninh Thuy Industrial Zone, etc. At present, the economic zone has attracted 15 projects with total investment of about USD90 million. In addition, South Van Phong General Port and North Van Phong General Port with capacity ranging from 30,000 to 70,000DWT are being built and expected to start operation in 2019. Especially, the project of Van Phong power center with total investment of USD2.5 billion by Sumitomo, a Japan-based group, is being complied formalities to start construction in 2018. This is a good sign for Van Phong Economic Zone.

According to Hoang Dinh Phi, head of Van Phong Ecomomic Zone management board, to keep encouraging investors to build infrastructures for the economic zone and other investment items, the management board and the provincial Department of Industry and Trade have suggested building a policy to support industrial zones and industrial groups in the province. Accordingly, investors will be supported in expenditure for ground clearance, technical infrastructure construction, human resource training, etc. The policy is expected to be adopted by the provincial People’s Council in 2018.

Those are looking for talented and experienced consultants who developed successful economic zones in the world to make planning for Northern Van Phong administrative – economic zone; do marketing for images, potentials and strategies of Van Phong Ecomonic Zone and the administrative unit of Northern Van Phong to investors in the country and abroad, etc.
Besides, Van Phong Economic Zone’s management board has researched to suggest the Central a strategic project on developing infrastructures of Van Phong special zone with national infrastructures, for example, building highway road and railway connecting Nha Trang with Van Phong, upgrading national roads connecting the Highlands and Northern Van Phong, etc.
