Coming to  the market on a weekend, we saw it sell a lot of products, mainly clothing, footwear, bags, accessories, cosmetics, food and drinks, etc. Most of the products had low prices (under VND200,000/product). The market was also crowded with customers. It was more interesting with a music show performed by students.

Reportedly, most sellers at Seagull Market are students. According to Pham Minh Hoa, a representative of the market’s organization board, with the aim to create a place for students to try business, in 2016, the company coordinated with Youth Union of Nha Trang Teachers’ College (Khanh Hoa University at present) to organize a weekend market in the sport hall of the college. At the start, the market had about 20 stalls with some products like clothing, handmade products, souvenirs, etc. Then, more and more students have registered to sell, so, the number of stalls has gone up gradually. From end 2017 when the sport hall was damaged by the storm Damrey, Seagull Market has been set up at 33 Phan Chu Trinh Street, Nha Trang. Up to now, the market has about 100 stalls, 70% - 80% of which are of students. After 2 years, Seagull Market has attracted students and local people as customers. Its fanpage on Facebook has over 34,000 Likes and over 35,000 Follows.

Some stall owners have opened their own shops after trying selling at the market and having experiences, customers and capital. So, some people call it the startup market.

Seagull Market’ s organization board also confirmed to attend to food safety, fire prevention as well as security at the market. The board also requires sellers to commit origin and quality of product in contracts. The organization board charges each stall VND1 million on each event. However, unions or organizations selling for charity are free. Needy students are also supported.
