Quang moved from Cam Ranh to Khanh Son to start up more than 30 years ago. In 1997, he started farming. Till 2005, he specialized in growing durians. Now, his growing area is about 9 hectares growing more than 1,000 durian trees. About 400 durian trees can be harvested, earning more than VND500 million/year. In 2017 particularly, his family harvested more than 30 tons of durians with total revenue of over VND1.2 billion. So far this year, their production has been 15 tons, getting VND1 billion in the revenue, 60% of which is profit.

At the starting time, he grew corn, manioc, grapefruits, purple suagercane, etc. Without machines, most the farming was done by by human. Moreover, severe climate, dry soil and lack in farming knowledge made him work very hard. He also met a lot of fails due to pestilent insects, water lack and unsold products.

In 2000, he was one of first people in Ba Cum Nam growing durian trees. To overcome difficulties and weak points on his land, he has improved land, digged ponds to store water, installed economic watering system in combination with fertilizing and mechanized production gradually. Especially, all durian trees have been numbered to monitor and note the process of care and fertilization as well as  discover and cure diseased timely. Therefore, his garden of durians has grown well and given durians with good quality and stable productivity.

According to Mau Uy – Chairman of Ba Cum Nam Commune Farmers’ Association, Le Tan Quang has been recognized as a high performing farmer at the provincial level. Each year, he creates jobs and stable income for 20 – 25 local laborers.
