Busy buying and selling
Farm Product Fair Khanh Hoa 2018 features nearly 100 booths arranged in sectors of fruits and vegetable, processed farm products, ornamental creature, seeds and plants, achievement in biology and high-tech agriculture, tourist products of Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa, and food. Beside farm products of Khanh Hoa Province, some products of neighboring provinces are also found in the fair.
From July 25, many kinds of fruits have been displayed at the fair. “Surprisingly, right when we took durians to the fair, hundreds of locals and tourist came to buy them. From the afternoon till 11 pm on July 25, hundreds of durians were sold”, said a farmer of the booth of Khanh Son District farm products.
Sales kept growing on July 26 when more farm products were brought to the fair. “I’ve bought 4 durians at the fair. Durians here have clear origin, good quality and good price”, Nguyen Thanh Tam, a Nha Trang local said.
Khanh Son District plans to bring about 10 tons of durians to the fair, but the amount may be more as durians sell too well. Similar, 6 tons green-skin grapefruits from Khanh Vinh may not be enough for sale.
At the fair, durians are selling at VND80,000/kg, green-skin grapefruits at VND60,000/kg, Nam Roi grapefruits at VND35,000/kg, avocadoes and rambutans at VND30,000/kg, mangosteens at VND65,000/kg, jackfruits at VND20,000/kg, etc. “As farm products here looks fresh and good, and their prices are lower than market prices, I’ve bought a lot”, a local named Hoang Thanh Yen.
Highlighted by pure farm products
According to Dang Thi Thanh Suong, vice-chairwoman of Khanh Vinh District Farmers’ Association, Khanh Vinh District brings green-skin grapefruits grown in VietGAP standard along with jackfruits, pineapples, honey, etc. to the fair this year. Diep Chau company, based in Song Cau Commune, sells cantaloupes produced by Japanese technology and qualifief for export to Europe.
Thanks to the right time, most kinds of fruits grown in Khanh Hoa Province join the fair. Grapefruits, mangoes, durians, rambutans, mangosteens, coconuts, bananas, garlic, green vegetable, etc are in harvest season.
Besides, the fair features a lot of processed farm products. Fish sauce, dried fishery and safe pork by Long Phat Co., Ltd. sell well. Pham Hung Long, general director of the company, said, “We has a pig farm qualified for VietGAP standard in Ninh Tan Commune, Ninh Hoa District. Our farm is the first VietGAP farm in Khanh Hoa Province, raising 2,500 pigs. We have invested a modern and hygien abattoir system with capacity of 10 pigs a day, selling at 5 retail stores of the company.”
According to Nguyen Trong Trung, the chairman of the provincial Farmers’ Association, the farm product fair this years is joined by a lot of farmers. Farm products with high values and grown safely are given priority to be sold at the fair. The fair is expected to be an effective connection between producers, traders as well as consumers, and introduce to tourists highlights in agriculture of the province.
