From August 31, an advance party of the mission led by Phan Thanh Liem, director of Investment Promotion and Business Support Center, came to Osaka to prepare for the official conference on September 5. In end 2017, the province sent a mission to attend a workshop to promote investment in Khanh Hoa Province in Osaka and Tokyo. At a workshop on Vietnam urban environment development held in Osaka, Chairman of ASEAN Urban Environment Development Association Toyoharu Fujimoto introduced and appreciated Nha Trang’s investment environment to Japanese businesses. He also affirmed that Nha Trang is an ideal place for Japanese businesses to invest.

In 90 FDI projects in Khanh Hoa Province, Japan has 7 projects which made up 73.98% of total registered investment capital (about USD2.7 billion/USD3.56 billion). Current Japanese projects in Khanh Hoa are Saigon Pearls Co., Ltd. in Van Phong Economic Zone with USD5 million, Yamato Food Co., Ltd. in Suoi Dau Industrial Zone with USD4 million, Fujiura Nha Trang Co., Ltd. in Suoi Dau Industrial Zone with USD650,000, Anh Dao Food Company with USD5 million, Taisho Vietnam Co., Ltd. with USD11.8 million, Sai Gon - Nha Trang Joint Venture Company with USD7.8 million, and Van Phong 1 Thermo-electric Plant with capacity of 1,320MW and registered investment of USD2.58 million by Sumitomo Group, planned to start construction in end 2018.
From the initial success, the provincial leadership has kept calling investment in Osaka. On September 4, the mission visited and worked with General Consulate of Vietnam in Osaka, visited Osaka Council Chairman, Osaka Deputy Governor and some departments. On September 5, an investment promotion conference took place at the conference center My Dome Osaka. At this event, Khanh Hoa Province introduced about development potentials and favorable policies of Khanh Hoa Province as well as Nha Trang City. The two sides exchanged contents Japanese businesses attend to, and then signed an investment cooperation between Khanh Hoa Province with Japanese businesses and between businesses of Khanh Hoa with Japanese businesses.
The conference was attended by about 140 representatives, mainly businesses from Japan. Khanh Hoa called investment mainly in high-tech agriculture, industry, infrastructure, tourism. The conference also called investment in Van Phong Economic Zone, promoted investment and cooperation in develop services, tourism and direct flights between Cam Ranh and Japan.
According to Standing Vice-chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Tran Son Hai, in 2017, Khanh Hoa had meetings with Japanese businesses. They got a lot of cares and ideas on economic cooperation with Khanh Hoa Province from Japanese businesses.
