By this increase, retail gas price as from October 1 ranges from VND350,000 – VND400,000/12-kg tanks, dependent on their brands. So far this year, gas price has increased by 62,000/12-kg tank in total in comparison with that in the beginning of the year. According to gas businesses, gas price in the country is dependent on the world gas price. In Early October, the world gas price has risen by USD37.5/ton over that in September, to USD655/ton now.

The increase in gas price has partly raised living cost as well as turnover of restaurants, especially small sellers. Nguyen Thi Kim Loan, a pancake seller in Hong Linh Street, Nha Trang City, shared, “The continuous increase in gas price so far this year makes my income lower as I have to pay VND600,000 – VND1 million more than before. If gas price rises more, I will increase my pancake selling price, which make the number of customers fewer.”
A representative of a restaurant in Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street, Nha Trang also admitted that cost for gas has made a remarkable increase, therefore, the restaurant has to increase prices of some dishes. Some local families also save more in using gas.
The increase in gas price has influenced on not only users, but on gas traders as well. Nguyen Thi Thanh Hai, director of Thanh Hai company, a gas distributor in Nha Trang revealed that sales of gas stores during the past months saw a decrease. Only about 90 tons of gas has been distributed to agents instead of 100 tons like before.
According to the representative of Gas Petrolimex Da Nang in Khanh Hoa Province, sales of the company have fell when gas price rises continuously. Vo Hung Nhan, director of this company, said that, “From now to the end of the year, gas price will keep rising as many countries in the world are entering winter and demands for fuels and gas for warming are going up.”
