Cam Ranh Port is considered as a factor to stimulate the development of industry and production for economic sectors in the south of the province. Not only for production and trade enterprises in the province, the port also helps goods transport to the Highlands. In 2017, 1,600,000 tons of cargo was transported through the port, giving a turnover of VND115 billion. Recently, the port has received the 2 millionth ton of cargo. This is the first time the cargo through Cam Ranh Port has reached 2 million tons in a year.

Pham Huu Tan, general director of Cam Ranh Port Joint Stock Company said, “Reaching 2 million tons of cargo is a good sign to our company. Therefore, we will keep investing and upgrading warehouses and the port to satisfy the demand for good transport of enterprises. At present, Cam Ranh Port has two wharfs with 600 meters in length, which can receive ships up to 50,000 tons. The company sets a target of 7 - 10 million tons of cargo transported through the port by 2025 and 10 million tons by 2030.”
In the first ten months of 2018, Cam Ranh Port improved loading process and administrative process to save time and cost for clients. Then, loading capacity was raised, storage time was saved. The company also paid attention to safety, no labor accident occurs. Consequently, business of Cam Ranh Port in 2018 has made sharp increase in output. In the beginning of the year, the amount of cargo is expected to be 1.8 million tons, but it reached 2 million tons in the past ten months. Main goods are wood shaving, sand, stone, cement, etc. “To raise competition, in 2018, we apply flexible prices and give good services for customers. The company utilizes land to launch maritime logistics services, trading and storage for clients to increase turnover and benefits. The coordination between shipping, sea port and maritime to raise competition and cut cost has been attended to. In addition, the connection with big corporations of cement, power, Hoa Phat, Formosa, etc. to raise goods transported through the port has also been made”, Tan said.
“Cam Ranh Port plays a big role to our company’s exports. Annually, my company transports a large amount of cargo through the port. Wharfs and warehouses of Cam Ranh Port now satisfy good transport for enterprises. This is a good condition for enterprises to develop production and trade. Shipping is still effective tranportation for goods, especially industrial goods. Therefore, if being upgraded, Cam Ranh Port may received more goods transported”, said Luu Van Chanh, deputy director of Cat Phu Joint Stock Company.
According to Pham Huu Tan, general director of Cam Ranh Port Joint Stock Company, to keep growth rate, the company will continue investing and raising quality of the inland depot and some equipment for export. In addtion, the company continues applying high technogy in execution and profession as well as advanced management measures.
