Overcoming difficulties caused by the storm in end 2017, enterprises in Khanh Hoa Province have achieved good results in export, towards fulfilling the year’s target.
Ship building is the highlight in the diagram of export growth in the province. According to a report by the provincial Department of Industry and Trade, ship building exported 10 ships worth USD343.3 million in the first ten months of 2018, increasing by 30% year-on-year. In the first quarter of 2018, ship export made a slight decrease of 13.22% year-on-year due to damages in the storm Damrey in end 2017. However, in the second quarter and the third quarter, ship building overcame difficulties and applied advances in management as well as production. Therefore, ship export rose again.
Le Van Toan, deputy director of Hyundai Vinashin Ship Building Factory said, “In 2018, the company strives for USD414 million in turnover. Production is often influenced in year-end months by weather. However, the company has measures to ensure production and turnover. With the good growth rate in year-end time, the drastic measures of the company, the effort of the staff, we believe to fulfill the year’s target.”
Another strong export of the province seeing good growth rate in year-end months is processed fishery with 10-month yield of 80.9 thousand tons, reaching USD469.1 million, an 11% increase year-on-year. Fishery export of the whole province is set a target of 100,000 tons worth over USD550 million.
Export turnover of the whole Khanh Hoa Province till October reached over USD1.1 billion, increasing by 11.06% year-on-year. In comparison with the target of USD1.3 billion for export in 2018, the figure of 10-month export reached 84.73% of the year’s target.
According to Tran Van Ngoan, deputy director of the provincial Department of Industry and Trade, in early 2018, some key industries of the province met difficulties due to the storm Damrey in end 2017; however, enterprises have tried to repair damage, bringing export back to good. Up to now, it’s possible to say that export of the province in 2018 will fulfill the target and exceed export value of 2017.
