Khanh Hoa Province now has 9 solar power projects ratified by the provincial People’s Committee to add the planning to develop power. Investors are promptly racing to finish to start supplying power by June, 2019 for enjoying preferential electricity.
A lot of projects start construction
The just adopted solar power projects cover 795 hectares in total area with total investment of VND13,020 billion. The projects invested in communes in Cam Ranh City, Ninh Hoa Township, Cam Lam District and Van Ninh District. Most of them are in Cam Lam District and Cam Ranh City. According to the leadership of Khanh Hoa Power Joint Stock Company, Cam Ranh has average solar power radiation of 5,34 kWh/m2/day. Cam Lam District has lower average solar power radiation but that’s higher than other places. This is a condition to do solar power projects. In addition, in Cam Ranh and Cam Lam, it’s also favorable to connect with the national grid.
At present, Tuan An solar power project invested by Tuan An Solar Power Joint Stock Company nears finish, and eight other projects are going to start construction in November and December. KN Van Ninh solar power project (in Van Hung Commune, Van Ninh District) invested by Kn Van Ninh Solar Development And Investment Company Limited has total investment of VND2,489 billion. Solar power projects, namely AMI, KN Cam Lam, Cam Lam VN and Trung Son in Cam An Nam Commune and Cam An Bac Commune will start construction in November. The solar power project in Thuy Ba Hamlet and Tan An Hamlet, Cam An Bac Commune, Cam Lam District to be invested with VND1,373 billion by the Central Power Corporation is scheduled to start construction in December and start supplying power in June, 2019.
Song Giang solar power project in Cam Thinh Dong Commune, Cam Ranh City, invested by Song Giang Solar Power Joint Stock Company will start construction in December. The project will cover an area of 70 hectares with capacity of 60MW. It will be invested with over VND1,200 billion. It is expected to supply power in May, 2019.
Long Son solar power project in Ninh Son Commune, Ninh Hoa Township invested by Long Son Energy Joint Stock Company will start construction in December. This project will be invested with VND3,400 billion on an area of 200 hectares, 170 MW in capacity.

Racing against time
Tuan An solar power plant is expected to supply power in December. The project will be set up on an area of 10.6 hectare in Cam Thinh Tay Commune, Cam Ranh City with capacity of 10MW and total investment of VND400 billion. The project aims to produce about 14.5 million kWh.
Investors of other projects are worry that they cannot start supply power by June, 2019 as it’s the deadline they can enjoy preferential selling price. Representative of KN Cam Lam Solar Power Co., Ltd. said that, “From now to June, 2019, investors have to try and mobilize all financial resources to start supplying power in time. The local authorities also need support investors.”
According to Le Thu Hai, director of the provincial Department of Industry and Trade, to support investors, the department has facilitated projects to be carried out. Recently, the department also reported the provincial People’s Committee and the Electricity and Renewable Energy Authority about the reality of solar power projects in the province, and petitioned the Ministry of Industry and Trade to direct Vietnam Electricity to step up construction 220kV stations in Cam Ranh and Van Phong to transmit power for the projects.
