Khanh Hoa Province now has 4 hydroelectric plant projects ratified by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, including Eakrongro Hydroelectric Plant (in Ninh Tay Commune, Ninh Hoa Town; capacity of 28MW; operating from August, 2007), Song Giang 2 Hydroelectric Plant (capacity of 37MW, operating in January, 2015), Song Giang 1 Hydroelectric Plant (capacity of 12MW, to operate in end 2019), and Song Cho 2 Hydroelectric Plant (in Khanh Hiep Commune, Khanh Vinh District, capacity of 7MW, in experimental electricity generation).
Investment in hydroelectric plants supports the socioeconomic development, improves infrastructures and increases the revenue for the State budget. The hydroelectric plants are set up on desolate mountains, hills or forests, so no residents have to move and no resettlement is needed.
