Tet flower market in Nha Trang

From the 20th of the last lunar month, ornament flowers and plants for Tet (lunar new year festival) are flooded streets in Nha Trang. From the 26th when most local people are off from work and have time to buy flowers and plants, Tet flower market has become busier.

 

In Nha Trang, Tet flowers gathered the most in streets like Le Thanh Ton, Thai Nguyen, Yersin, To Hien Thanh, Pasteur, Dinh Tien Hoang, 23-10. Huynh Lien, a flower seller in Le Thanh Ton Street, said that his family took nearly 2,000 flower pots of many kinds from Ninh Hoa to Nha Trang, mainly chrysanthemums. A big pot of chrysanthemums may sell up to VND2.5 million. Other kinds of flowers are Christmas flowers, Marigold flowers, roses, etc. Another chrysanthemum seller named Ho Ly Lac also said that his family took 1,500 pots of chrysanthemums to Nha Trang and has sold out 500 ones up to now. Nguyen Duy An, living in Phuoc Hai Ward, revealed that his family has sold 200 pots of chrysanthemums at VND250,000/pot.

 

 

 

Apricot blossoms this year is expected to bloom right on Tet. Looking for a pot of apricot blossoms, Nguyen Tuan An, living in Nha Trang, commented that most of apricot blossom pots costs over VND2 million each, more expensive than last year due to the unfavorable weather.

 

Nguyen Van Tam, a apricot blossom grower carrying 60 pots from Binh Dinh Province to Nha Tranh, said that his apricot blossom pots cost VND2 - 4 million/pot. Another seller named Tran Huu Nhat is selling about 20 pots of apricot blossoms from Tuy Hoa, priced from several VND million up to over VND20 million. Besides, he’s selling 200 big pots of kumquats with prices of VND2.5 – 3 million/pot. He said that kumquats sell better than apricot blossoms.

 

There are also a lot of kinds of ornament flowers for Tet like peach blossoms, orchids, water-rails or ornamant plants like Dien grapefruits, etc.  

 

Tet flower market in Nha Trang also sees very expensive bonsais or ornament wood.
