According to Nguyen Van Dung, deputy manager of the district Economic Department, in 2016, the district built a program to develop industry and handicraft industry with a lot of specific measures, focusing on investing, financing, encourage and solving problems in formalities to facilitate enterprises to develop in depth. Consequently, production value of industry and handicraft industry in the whole district reached more than VND432 billion, increasing by 22.5%. The whole district now has 65 mining companies. In 2018 particularly, these companies invested more than VND140 billion to expand scale, innovate technology, improve quality and productivity, etc.
Besides, processing industries have developed in main products like fish sauce, fish cakes, cashew nuts, pure water, processed wood, fine art handicrafts, etc. 237 businesses have invested more than VND120 billion to renovate technologies to manufacture better products. Up to now, food processing has reached 55 tons, increasing by 0.85% over in 2016; fish sauce: 1,952 million liters, 16.52% up over 2016; fish cakes: 18 tons.

Mechanics has also developed well. Over 100 businesses have invested more than VND125 billion in upgrading technologies, applying technologies and machines in production to improve productivity and products’ quality. Besides, woodwork, fine arts and rattan for export have been invested more. Up to now, the whole district has more than 200 businesses in these industries.
The development of industry and handicraft industry has been creating jobs for ten thousands of laborers in the district. The district has launched nearly 100 classes to train laborers and guided as well as supported businesses to apply new technologies in production. Besides, the province has given financial aids to preserve and develop tradition trade villages like pottery, agarwood, etc.
According to Vo Luc Pham, Vice-chairman of Van Ninh District People’s Committee, the district has set target to transfer economic structure and labor structure into industry and service as the main. Therefore, the district will attend to develop industry and handicraft industry in the tendency of increase technology and intelligence. In the period of 2019 – 2020, the district will invest more than VND4.9 billion to support businesses in finding markets, transferring, applying technologies in production, improving products’ quality, etc.
Targets of the districts are VND784.8 billion in production value of industry and handicraft industry, industrial growth rate of 17.3% a year by 2020; VND1,952 billion in production value of industry and handicraft industry, industrial growth rate of 20% a year by 2025.
