Van Ninh District has natural waters advantageous for aquaculture. At present, the whole province has more than 21,500 cages raising lobsters and fish, more than 1,700 hectares raising shrimps and snails. In fishing, the whole district has 1,560 boats. The figures are still small in comparison with the district’s potentials.
According to Vo Luc Pham, Deputy director of Van Ninh District People’s Committee, the district has made specific plan on implementing marine economy developing program in the period of 2019 – 2020 and tendency for 2025. Initially, the district will invest more than VND9.3 million to support and build models to develop marine ecomony, solve difficulties and facilitate locals and enterprises. Specifically, in aquaculture, the district will make planning for raising area, have requirements in environmental protection, give training and transfer modern aquaculture techniques for local people. The whole district strives to reach more than aquacultural production of 1,700 tons a year.
In fishing, the district will encourage and support offshore fishing for fishermen. The district sets a target to build 20 fishing boats with capacity from 400CV and shells from iron or composite. Target fishing yield is more than 10,000 tons a year. Eradication is banned. The district will survey areas having corals, sea grass and reefs to protect and restore as well as upgrade wharfs in communes like Van Thang, Van Hung, Van Thanh, Van Gia, etc. to serve local people, fishing and tourism.
“In this program, tourism will be attended to develop from existing potentials. Initially, the district coordinate with the local departments to support enterprises to reclaim and upgrade some tourist sites, especially Dai Lanh, Hon Ong and Bai Tay. In addition, the district is calling investment in new destinations with a lot of potentials for tourism like Bai Cat Tham, Hon Doi, Ho Na, Khai Luong, Ran Trao, etc.”, said Vo Luc Pham.
