Khanh Son District People’s Committee (Khanh Hoa Province) has impulsed bringing farm products into supermarkets in order to ensure output for local farm products. In this year’s crop, consumers can find durians and purple sugarcane of Khanh Son in supermarkets or showrooms of the provincial Farmers’ Association.
Durian crop this year may be later than previous years by one month, but now merchants has ordered and signed contracts with growers to purchase Monthong durians with the price of VND47,000/kg. Kinds of durians like Ri6 and Chin Hoa have been ordered at higher prices than those last year. Other kinds of fruits of Khanh Son District are also purchased and transported to sell.
With favorable soil and weather, Khanh Son District has developed a lot of valuable farm products. Up to now, the whole province has 1,000 hectares of durian trees, 300 hectares of green-skin grapefruit trees, 150 hectares of rambutans, 350 hectares of purple sugarcane, and areas of mangosteen trees, jackfruit treens, banana trees, etc.

According to Nguyen Ngoc Hieu, manager of Khanh Son District Agriculture and Rural Development Section Department, the district is oriented to become a fruit area of the province as well as the region, and the development of the fruit area will go with the local tourism and building new rural areas. Therefore, in recent years, the district has intensified changing plants and the area of valuable fruits has risen year by year.
However, local farm product purchase depending on merchants is a worry of the authority as well as fruit growers in Khanh Son District. Therefore, the local authority attend to have stable output for local farm products.
Khanh Son District People’s Committee has recently dicussed with leaderships of supermarkets in the province like Co.opmart Nha Trang, Co.opmart Cam Ranh, Vinmart, BigC and Mega Market about selling farm products of the district in supermarkets. Khanh Son District People’s Committee and Co.opmart Nha Trang will co-organize farm product week in mid August in front of the supermarket. Other supermarkets have agreed to sell farm products of Khanh Son District.
As planned, e-commerce trading floor of the province will be put into operation. This is a channel to introduce, promote and sell farm products of the district.
