Good signals

Industrial Waste and Hazardous Waste Treatment Plant in Ninh An commune, Ninh Hoa town, Khanh Hoa province has a capacity of 100 tons/day and night. The plant has 12 waste treatment systems. In particular, the furnace has a capacity of 1,000kg/hour, a solvent recovery system with a capacity of 375kg/ hour, an oil recycling system with a capacity of 500kg/hour, a system of rinsing, washing drum and packing with a capacity of 350kg/hour, sewage and liquid treatment system with capacity of 240m3/day and night.

The management of industrial waste and hazardous waste is a very important issue. Since the Industrial Waste and Hazardous Waste Treatment Plant of Khanh Hoa Environment Joint Stock Company started operation, the pressure from industrial waste has decreased, in particular, the storage and disposal of waste have been controlled more strictly.

According to Bui Minh Son - Deputy Director of Environment Protection Division under Khanh Hoa Province Department of Natural Resources and Environment, the plant is the first one in this field in the province. The plants collects, transports, stores and treats industrial wastes and hazardous wastes. The plant is also responsible for destroying substandard or unqualified supplies, goods, equipment and raw materials. After nearly 1 year of operation, the plant has helped to treat industrial and hazardous waste in the province more conveniently.

Ha Quang Hoa - Director of Khanh Hoa Environment Joint Stock Company said that in order to ensure the absolutely safe operation process, all activities in the factory are monitored by electronic devices. Results of environmental monitoring and analysis by the authorities show that the emission samples of its incinerator, waste water, air in and around the factory all meet the national environmental technical standards prescribed by the Vietnam Environment Administration.

Favorable for enterprises

Currently, the Industrial Waste and Hazardous Waste Treatment Plant is treating waste for 143 enterprises and individuals in the province with 370 types of hazardous waste. In addition, the factory has also signed waste treatment contracts with enterprises in the South Central Region and the Central Highlands. Each year, Khanh Hoa Environment Joint Stock Company is capable of collecting and treating nearly 25,000 tons of industrial and hazardous waste.

Before, enterprises in the province had to carry industrial and hazardous waste to other provinces like Binh Duong, Dong Nai or even Hai Phong for treatment. Now, the plant has created favorable conditions for businesses. Le Van Toan - Deputy General Director of Hyundai Vinashin Shipyard said that the industrial waste and hazardous waste plant has helped his business reduce the cost of transporting waste to treatment.

Due to the factory in the province, the waste storage time is shorter. Besides, businesses are specifically guided about initial treatment of waste.

Bui Minh Son - Deputy Director of Environment Protection Division (under the provincial Department of Natural Resources and Environment) said the treatment of industrial waste and hazardous waste now is well done. The waste storage time in enterprises has been shortened to minimize the risk of environmental pollution. Businesses with large amounts of industrial waste and hazardous waste have advantages when the treatment facility are near. All vehicles transporting waste are licensed by the national Environment Administration and installed GPS, so the waste transport and treatment are strictly monitored.
