Khanh Hoa Province Department of Industry and Trade is implementing the Ministry of Industry and Trade's project on domestic market development in the period of 2014-2020, which focuses on creating a bridge between manufacturers and retailers to bring local goods into supermarkets.

Recently, the Department of Industry and Trade has promoted trade promotion activities, connecting supply and demand to link manufacturers and supermarkets to develop brands, expand markets and improve competitiveness for local goods. Initially, the above activities have certain effects. For example, at Khanh Son farm product week, the supermarkets have sold out nearly 20 tons of farm products, and connected some local suppliers to sell goods in the supermarket for a long time. At the supply and demand connecting conference, nearly 30 producers and small and medium-sized enterprises of the province have accessed purchasing policies, conditions to supply goods for supermarkets.

Ms. Nhan Kiet Le - representative of purchasing department of Big C Vietnam said that at present, Big C supermarket in Nha Trang is selling some local products such as birds’nest, fish sauce, anchovies fried with garlic, etc. However, supermarkets still need local products such as: Cam Ranh goat meat, dried mango, mushrooms, etc. The supermarket is always ready to support producers about procedures and negotiations on purchasing policies.

According to Ms. Phan Thi Thu Cuc - Deputy Director of the provincial Department of Industry and Trade, the connection between supply and demand aims to help farmers, producers and businesses meet retailers to discuss and understand the criteria, conditions to penetrate into retail systems, understand the food safety regulations and criteria in supplying products for supermarkets. In the coming time, the provincial Department of Industry and Trade will coordinate with supermarkets in the province to continue connecting with local producers and businesses to increase the amount of purchased products and facilitate procedures.
