Accordingly, for nearly 2 months, warehouses are always full of goods, equal to the amount of goods stored for lunar new year festivals. The total value of stored goods of this chain is estimated at VND 20,000 billion. Co.opmart Nha Trang accounts for about VND20 billion. Group of items that are much prepared include rice, instant noodles, bottled water, canned food, milk, hand sanitizer, cloth mask, toilet paper, detergent, etc.
In particular, supermarkets also have scenarios in case of disease widespread or local isolation. Vo Dinh Dung - Director of Co.opmart Nha Trang said, “Saigon Co.op has given 4 scenarios in emergency situations, ensuring the supply of sufficient necessities. In the case general warehouses is isolated, we will propose suppliers to deliver goods directly to supermarkets; and goods will be taken from many manufacturers in different regions to ensure the supply.”
Lotte Mart Nha Trang's representative also said that at present, the products like instant noodles, canned foods, rice are always abundant at the supermarket now. The supermarket has stored more than 4 tons of rice, more than 3,000 boxes of instant noodles, and 300 boxes of canned foods. Goods are added every week to maintain the amount in stock.
MM Mega Market Nha Trang has also actively doingmany activities to ensure the best service for essential consumer needs of customers. Right from the beginning of the year, the supermarket coordinated with suppliers and farmers to increase the amount of essential goods by 20% to 40%. Currently, goods like rice, processed food, fresh food, especially hand sanitizer and face masks, have been stored with a total value of more than VND15 billion.

According to representatives of supermarkets, up to now, the supply of goods from suppliers in the country is plentiful with good prices as the export of goods, especially agricultural products to countries, has difficulties due to the epidemic. Meanwhile, it is the harvest time of many agricultural products, especially rice with high productivity. Pig breeding is covering, and aquaculture is also favorable. Therefore, the supply of goods is abundant, suppliers said that they can increase the frequency of delivery to supermarkets by many times if required. Supermarkets' representatives suggest people should feel secure about the source of goods for essential needs and follow the recommendations of the Ministry of Health for effective prevention and control of the epidemic. All supermarkets have online sales channels, phone sales, free delivery within a radius of 10km to serve customers shopping from home.
On April 1, the Department of Industry and Trade issued a docucment instructing localities and units of the Industry and Trade branch on essential goods trading in the province. Accordingly, the department proposed the Department of Information and Communications, the People's Committees of districts, towns, cities, supermarkets and the management of markets to propagate to the people that markets, supermarkets and selling places of essential goods, food and foodstuffs are allowed to during the period of social distancing; business units have a reserve plan, ensuring the supply of essential commodities; people shouldn’t gather, increase online purchases, delivery home, etc. The Department also asked the Market Management Agency to support and supervise essential trading establishments, avoiding speculation and hoarding of goods as well as price raising in order to stabilize the market and ensure food and foodstuffs for people during the time of preventing and fighting the Covid-19 epidemic.
