Khanh Hoa Province’s Council of Science and Technology on May 5 checked and took over the project “Building models of artificial breed production and commercial farming of cobia and red drum (sciaenops ocellatus) in Khanh Hoa Province”.
The project applied the artificial production technologies transferred by Nha Trang University and was implemented by MSc Nguyen Khanh Nam (Khanh Hoa Center for Scientific and Technological Application) and his associates from November 2016 to April 2020.

Under the project, two models of artificial breed production of cobia and red drum were successfully created with 62,900 broodstock cobia, 10-15cm/fish, and more than three million broodstock red drum, 4-8cm/fish. Besides, the project built two models of commercial farming with a total yield of 13,321kg of cobia and 11,535kg of red drum.
The council assessed that the project met and exceeded the set targets. The results of the project are the scientific basis for hatcheries, businesses and localities to apply to breed production and commercial farming of cobia and red drum.
