Efforts to changing plants

Changing plants continues to take place strongly in Khanh Hoa Province in 2020. The state budget also devotes a considerable amount to support people in this process.

According to a decision of the provincial People's Committee, in 2020, there will be 651 hectares of land for plant changing to access the State's support policy with the amount of nearly VND16 billion. Khanh Son district with 285ha registered for the changing receives the biggest supported with more than VND8.4 billion. Next is Van Ninh District with 163 hectares, supported nearly VND6 billion.

In Ninh Hoa town, out of nearly 62 hectares supported, 12 hectares will be converted to corn, 5.4 hectares will be converted into lotus, the remaining 44ha in Ninh Tan and Ninh Thuong communes will be shifted to growing grapefruits, jackfruits, mangoes, custard apples, guavas and oranges. Among these, there are 10 hectares of jackfruits and 24 hectares of mangoes. Compared to other fruit trees, jackfruit trees and mango trees appear to be easier to cultivate and take care of. The drought tolerance of mango trees and jackfruit trees is better than grapefruit trees, durian trees, orange trees, guava trees ... This is important as most farmers have little experience in growing fruit trees, and a lot of production areas lack irrigation water.

Besides changing plants, this year's policy to support the development of agricultural production and rural services also spends VND235 million to support concentrated breeding with 4,000 chickens in Ninh Hung Commune (Ninh Hoa Town) and 300 pigs in Khanh Nam Commune (Khanh Vinh District). In addition, the provincial budget supports VND170 million for two high-tech agricultural models, including orchid planting model in Ninh Hoa Town and mushroom growing model in Dien Khanh District.

Over the past 3 years, on average, thousands of hectares of productive land have been transferred to other crops, giving higher economic efficiency. The fact also proves that, along with people's efforts, the State's supportive policy is a push to help farmers become stronger in abandoning inefficient crops, shifting to planting plants which have higher economic efficiency.

The Economic and Budget Board of the provincial People's Council assessed that this is an important policy, creating an impetus in raising the scale of agricultural production, encouraging people to boldly change the structure of agricultural production. After the period of 2017 - 2020, this policy should continue to be implemented and revised to suit the current situation.
