According to statistics, by the end of 2019, the whole province has 2,023 places processing farm products, forest products and aquatic products. Many processed products have built up famous brands at home and abroad such as bird's nest, frozen seafood, fish sauce, coffee and wood. The processing industry is creating jobs for tens of thousands of employees with an average income of about VND5 million/person/month.
The level of mechanization in agricultural production and processing is also having remarkable development. By the end of 2019, the whole province has 368 tractors with a capacity of 35 horsepower or more, nearly 3,000 tractors with smaller capacity, thousands of rice harvesters, woodworking, farm product driers, etc. Now, mechanization in soil making is 100%, in irrigation: 35%, harvest: more than 80%, transportation: 73.47%, wood processing: 100%.

According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development's evaluation, processing in agriculture has achieved some encouraging results but they are uneven. The processing industry is focusing on seafood, coffee ..., while the processing industry of vegetable, fruits and food is not adequate. In recent years, rice produced in Khanh Hoa is gradually building a position in the market through close association with the processing industry. Ngoc Quang rice brand is an example. In the field of green vegetables, Hiep Nong Phat brand of clean vegetables in Ninh Than commune, Ninh Hoa town has been present in many kitchens of schools in Ninh Hoa town and Van Ninh district as well as in some supermarkets and clean food stores across the province. However, many other agricultural products with high economic value such as mangoes, durians, grapefruits, apples, etc. are still sold fresh. Therefore, their prices are not stable.
The reality shows that, when a crop thrives, farmers get a good harvest, the price is pulled down low. For example, Australian mangoes, when the area is small, the price of this type of mango in the garden is up to VND50,000 / kg, even higher. But when they are grewn on thousands of hectares, the price dropped to less than half. In the mango crop 2020, beautiful Australian mango price was only about VND20,000/kg, type 2 was sold at only VND8,000 - 10,000/kg.
Obviously, deep processing in agriculture is the best way to limit the situation of bumper crop – low price and poor crop – high price on many crops and livestock. The establishment of processing factories also helps farmers feel secure to expand production scale.
According to the leadership of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, in order to overcome these shortcomings, in the coming time, the department continues to consult the provincial People's Committee to implement solutions to promote agricultural mechanization in accordance with the Government's policy, the project on mechanization of agricultural production of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development; and consult the provincial People's Committee to direct departments, branches and localities to review mechanisms and policies to attract more businesses to invest in agriculture, especially the processing industry of agricultural products.
