Developing trade in mountainous areas

Khanh Vinh District (Khanh Hoa Province) has gradually developed trade in mountainous area and remote areas, contributing to the local economic development and improving people's living.

 

According to the district leaders, 2015 was the first year to implement developing trade in mountainous areas and remote areas and localities facing many difficulties. The domestically produced goods was not diverse and plentiful; information was limited, traffic was not convenient. In 2016, the district People's Committee advanced funds to buy domestically produced goods to stabilize prices during holidays, New Year occasion, stock food and foodstuff in case of natural disasters and trade commodities to serve the demand of the local people, bring goods to 8 stores in 8 communes of the district. Besides, the district will organize mobile sales in villages in remote areas of the district. However, the purchasing power was very low, the goods at the end of the year was still unsold.

 

In 2017, the district People's Committee directed the Service - Trade Center to ask employees of 8 affiliated stores to conduct a shopping demand survey of people in each commune. After having specific data, the Service - Trade Center surveyed input of domestic products and signed contracts with distributors to bring goods to 8 stores; coordinated with related departments and localities to inform to the local people. As a result, purchasing power of items such as fish sauce, cooking oil, instant noodle and washing powder increased by 60%; no inventory left at the end of the year. From the initial results, the Service - Trade Center has come into stable operation, serving the people better.

 

 

 

 

Mr. Nguyen Van Thuan - Vice Chairman of Khanh Vinh District People's Committee said, up to now, the purchasing power at the 8 stores has risen year by year. In particular, the purchasing power increased during the holidays, before, during and after Tet. Currently, 8 stores of the center are diverse in types, rich in quantity and meeting demand of the local people in the district. This is a praiseworthy result for the Service - Trade Center in contributing to the development of trade in mountainous and remote areas.

 

In addition, Khanh Vinh District has 4 markets for local people in the district, including: Khanh Binh Commune market serving three communes of Khanh Dong, Khanh Binh and Khanh Hiep; Song Cau Commune market serving two communes of Song Cau and Khanh Phu; Khanh Vinh Town market serving 3 communes of Khanh Thanh, Khanh Nam and Cau Ba and Khanh Vinh Town; and Lien Sang commune market serving 4 communes of Khanh Thuong, Giang Ly, Son Thai and Lien Sang. By the end of 2019, 3 of the markets have met the standards, those are Song Cau Commune market, Lien Sang Commune market and Khanh Vinh Town market. The good management of market activities has contributed to promoting trade, helping to improve the local people’s living.

 

However, in order to continue developing trade in mountainous and remote areas, localities still face certain difficultiee; for example, finding output and input for services at competitive prices; some stores of the Service - Trade Center far from residential areas;  area of markets is still small...
