The land of fruits
Coming to Khanh Son this season, we can see green gardens with a lot of fruits and new spacious houses just built after bumper crops of local farmers. Many people here have become rich thanks to fruits…Bo Bo Ngoc Huyen in To Hap town is an example. From a poor ethnic minority household, his family has moved out of poverty and improved living thanks to planting durians. Huyen confided that he used to plant all kinds of trees on an area of about 1 ha of land before but his income then was not much. Since he shifted to grow durians, he harvests 4-5 tons of fruits each crop, earning more than VND230 million. He plans to continue planting more 100 durian trees. By planting durians, his family has built a house, bought motorbikes, televisions, refrigerators to make life more comfortable.
According to Nguyen Ngoc Hieu - Head of Khanh Son District's Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, with the advantages of soil and climate, in recent years, the district has focused on developing fruit trees of high economic value. Khanh Son is gradually striving to become the land of delicious fruits as well as the largest fruit-growing region of the province. Currently, an average of 1 ha of productive land each year brings income to 80 million VND for people. There are models of farming with high economic efficiency, up to hundreds of millions of dong per hectare. It can be said that fruit trees have made a breakthrough in socio-economic development of Khanh Son district, contributing to changing the face of rural mountainous areas in the area.

Currently, Khanh Son has become the largest fruit tree area in the South Central Coast, with a total area of over 2,700ha. The whole district has more than 1,500 hectares of durian, more than 330 hectares of green grapefruit, nearly 70 hectares of rambutan and more than 450 hectares of other fruit trees such as mangosteen, jackfruit, orange, tangerine, avocado booth ... The fruits of Khanh Son is very famous, especially durian Khanh Son has been registered for trademark protection, voted as Vietnam Agricultural Gold Brand; Khanh Son purple sugarcane has been built a brand, many other fruit trees are produced clean by farmers, applying VietGAP standards.
Developing agriculture associated with tourism
In recent years, agricultural production has become a key economic sector of the district. Agricultural production has accounted for more than 70% of the production value of the local economy so far. Along with the popularity of the delicious fruits, Khanh Son is also known as "Da Lat" of Khanh Hoa thanks to its cool climate and beautiful natural landscapes such as Ta Gu Waterfall, Ko Rua Waterfall, Son Hiep - Son Binh pine forest, Ba Cum Bac mountain pass ... Khanh Son also has many historical and cultural relics such as Khanh Son rock instrument, Ta Nia airport, along with the diversity in culture and traditional identity of Raglai people. These are favorable conditions for Khanh Son to develop tourism in the coming time.
