According to the report of the provincial Department of Industry and Trade, in 2020, the industrial production index increased by 0.5% over the previous year. In which, the mining industry increased by 14.41%; processing and manufacturing by 0.3%; production and distribution of electricity, gas and steam rose by 2.69%.
For the commercial sector, the average consumer price index increased by 3.38%. Due to the Covid-19 epidemic, some stores suspended or closed, which reduced the total retail sales of goods and services in the province. Import and export were negatively affected by enterprises influenced by the epidemic prevention and control policies of other countries, the decrease of orders…As a result, export turnover of the whole province reached more than 1,360 million USD, down 8.72%; import turnover reached more than 766.7 million USD, down 9.92%; total retail renevue of goods and services reached 68,566 billion VND, down 27.38% ...
Tran Van Ngoan - Deputy Director of the provincial Department of Industry and Trade said that in 2020, the socio-economic situation faced many difficulties due to the effects of the Covid-19 epidemic and consequences of natural disasters. During the year, the department linked closely with other departments, branches and localities to implement the tasks of the Industry and Trade sector. The department also proposed solutions, guide and support as much as possible for enterprises affected by the Covid-19 epidemic in order to overcome difficulties and restore production and business.
Implementing solutions synchronously
The provincial Department of Industry and Trade forecast that the industry and trade of the province in 2021 will face difficulties and challenges because the Covid-19 epidemic is still complicated and the weather makes changes ... To fulfill targets for the year 2021, the Department of Industry and Trade has proposed many tasks and solutions. In particular, the Department continues calling for investment in filling Ninh Thuy Industrial Park (Ninh Hoa town), selecting investors to build infrastructure of industrial clusters in Ninh Xuan (Ninh Hoa), Tan Lap (Cam Thanh Bac commune, Cam Lam district), urge investors to speed up constructing infrastructure of industrial clusters Trang E 2 (Nha Trang - Cam Lam) and Dien Tho (Dien Khanh district), clearing ground for enterprises investing in production.
Through the national industrial promotion program and the local industrial promotion, the department will promote activities to support the application of advanced machinery and equipment, new technologies and new products. At the same time, the department encourages enterprises to invest in improving efficiency of industrial production in terms of size, productivity, product quality, and business administration. In the field of trade, the Department of Industry and Trade will promote domestic and foreign trade promotion activities, enhance support for businesses to directly advertise their products to consumers abroad, actively participate in and organize product fairs and exhibitions to create opportunities for market expansion and diversification.
At the conference on reviewing the industry and trade in 2020, Le Huu Hoang - Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee directed the Department of Industry and Trade in the coming time to focus on implementing solutions to improve the environment for investment, business and national competitiveness; to continue promoting the industrial restructuring in the direction of increasing the proportion of processing and manufacturing industries. Le Huu Hoang also asked the department to promote domestic trade promotion activities and encourage domestic consumption; to step up the development of the domestic market in association with the campaign "Vietnamese people give priority to using Vietnamese goods". In addition, meeting, exchanging, dialogue, accompanying businesses in production and business in order to promptly remove difficulties, create conditions for businesses and investors to complete works, projects to soon put into operation the industrial clusters of Trang É 2, Dien Tho, solar power projects ... will be strengthened. At the same time, the Department need effectively develop the implementation plan of The Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) and the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) in the province.
