The Covid-19 epidemic has caused difficulties for production and business Cam Ranh Port Joint Stock Company. However, the company set targets and solutions to overcome difficulties in 2021.
In 2020, due to the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic, the volume of goods passing through Cam Ranh port and revenue of Cam Ranh Port Joint Stock Company did not reach the plan. Specifically, goods through the port reached 2 million tons, only 68% of the year’s target and 70% compared to 2019. The revenue reached 135.4 billion, reaching 84% of the year’s target, 85% in 2019.
The year 2021 is forecasted to be another difficult year for Cam Ranh port in implementing production and business tasks. The unfavorable factors in the commodity market will certainly put great pressure on the company in implementing the set targets and tasks. Based on survey and analysis of the market, the situation of goods through the port in 2020, the company sets the target of cargo output of 2.7 million tons and revenue of 151 billion VND in 2021.
In order to fulfill the targets, the company continues to invest in upgrading wharf 1 to 50,000 DWT and wharf 2 to 70,000 DWT; invest in a 2.3 ha warehouse in the west; complete the project of dredging and maintaining navigational channels with a depth of 13.5 m and length of 2.3 km; buying mobile cranes from 40 - 45 tons; invest in solar power system... Total investment is estimated about 118 billion VND.
According to Pham Huu Tan, Chairman of the company’s board, the company will give priority to marketing to restore, maintain and effectively exploit the existing market and expand market share to increase cargo throughput. In the short term, the company will focus on working with energy groups to continue importing goods through Cam Ranh port, directly access to customers, grasp information about the situation of goods, analyze strengths and weaknesses, update market mechanisms and lists, classify customers, focusing on potential customers who have demand and the ability to import and export goods through the port.
In particular, the port focuses on a number of commodity groups such as stones for construction, wood chips for export, construction materials, equipment for wind power projects in the South Central Coast and the Central Highlands.
