(Nha Trang City) cooperated with the agencies from the Central and Khanh Hoa provincial departments and agencies to first check and take over the project on application of science and technology to form the linkage model of chain of processing, preservation and consumption to improve the value of Khanh Hoa’s mango trees.
The project consists of two parts, which are building a business-farmer linkage model to cultivate Australian mangoes towards good agriculture practice and building a model of processing and preserving mangoes with modified atmosphere packaging. Within the framework of the project, a cultivation area of 70.6ha was created in Cam Thanh Bac Commune, Cam Hai Tay Commune and Cam Duc Town (Cam Lam District) following Vietnamese Good Agriculture Practice standards. In addition, the project has applied new technologies in purchasing eight tons of mangoes/day, setting up a mango processing line, and lengthening preservation time by 40 days. The total output of purchased and preserved mangoes has been more than 200 tons. The project was assessed as satisfactory and will be widely implemented in the future.
The project is a part of the program on supporting the application and transfer of scientific and technological advances to boost socio-economic development in the rural, mountainous and ethnic-inhabited areas in the 2016-2025 period carried out by the Ministry of Science and Technology.
