Agricultural products meet VietGAP standards
These days, many farmers in Son Binh commune focus on taking care of and preparing to enter the main durian harvest period in 2021. This year's durian season, cooperatives and cooperative groups grow edible crops. It is expected to bring to the market high quality products, meeting VietGAP standards. Ta Quoc Phong - Chairman of Son Binh Commune People's Committee said: “There commune has 380ha of durians 240ha of which have been harvested; 70ha of green-skin grapefruits, 80ha of tangerines, 60ha of coffee and 30ha of pepper. Farmers in the commune are transforming and applying clean production methods, meeting VietGAP standards. The whole commune has 1 cooperative and 2 cooperative groups growing 50ha of durians and 17ha of green-skin grapefruits with VietGAP certification. This year, it is expected that 350 tons of durian and 50 tons of green-skin grapefruits will be supplied to the market.
Many other localities in Khanh Son district such as Son Hiep, Son Trung, Ba Cum Bac, To Hap town... have also developed many kinds of agricultural crops with high economic value suitable to the climate and soil. Up to now, the whole district has more than 1,720ha of durians, more than 330ha of green-skin grapefruits, nearly 70ha of rambutans and hundreds of hectares of mangosteens, jackfruits, oranges, tangerines, avocados... Fruits of Khanh Son are well-known by consumers inside and outside the province. In particular, Khanh Son durians have been registered for trademark protection, voted as Vietnam's Agricultural Gold Brand. According to Do Nhi Huy - Head of Agriculture and Rural Development Department of Khanh Son District, on the basis of implementing the One Commune One Product (OCOP) program, the locality has focused on building and developing brands separately for each commune; developing clean agriculture, producing according to VietGAP standards to form a chain of safe agricultural products from production to consumption in order to bring high economic value; impulse the promotion of local agricultural product brands to consumers. “The whole district has 780ha out of more than 1,720ha of durian trees under harvest, estimated output this year is about 6,240 tons. In which, 254ha of 2 cooperatives, 8 cooperative groups in all 8 communes and towns of the district are recognized as meeting VietGAP standards, with the output supplied to the market this year with more than 2,500 tons. In addition to durians, the locality also has 5ha of purple sugarcane that meets VietGAP standards", Huy added.

Accelerating consumption connection
Besides developing agriculture in a clean direction, meeting VietGAP standards and being granted OCOP certification, Khanh Son district also focuses on connecting and introducing high-quality agricultural products to consumers. In order to promote the consumption of high-quality agricultural products, Khanh Son District People's Committee has planned to organize a Khanh Son farm market in early August, with a scale of 22 VietGAP-standard agricultural product booths of various cooperatives, cooperative groups, fruit tree growing households in the locality. This activity will help farmers introduce delicious, high-quality fruits, connecting to bring typical agricultural products of the district to consumers inside and outside the province, contributing to helping growers recover production and business affected by the Covid-19 epidemic.
In addition, to connect the consumption of agricultural products in the area, Khanh Son district has proposed to register fresh durian products of 159 households participating in cooperatives and cooperative groups in the area participating in the human resource project. The district will expand and develop a chain model of production, processing and consumption of agricultural products, which is being implemented by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.
