Obvious changes
15 years ago, Cam Lam only featured mango groves and endless white sand dunes. At that time, except Suoi Dau Industrial Zone with an occupancy rate of less than 70, the local economy was mainly agriculture. Now, this land is changing drastically. In the district, there are more and more straight asphalt roads with buildings growing. In Bai Dai, world-class resorts almost cover the entire north of Cam Ranh peninsula. Further, Suoi Tan urban area is also gradually forming…
With the continuous efforts of many generations of leaders and people in the whole district, from a purely agricultural and fishery area, Cam Lam has made strong changes. In the period of 2015 - 2020, the district has gradually implemented synchronously and effectively the urban development program and achieved positive results. The investment budget for the urban development program in this period was nearly 26 thousand billion VND. The district built new residential areas and expanded the inner urban area, public works, green parks, etc. and embellished urban areas. The planning and construction of infrastructure was invested to upgrade. Cam Duc town and Suoi Tan commune have basically completed the goal of reaching urban standards of the 5th grade. Production and business establishments as well as service industries were expanded and developed, the face of the district had changes, in which the urbanization rate of Cam Duc town reached over 50%, Suoi Tan commune reached over 45%.
Industry and tourism become strengths
Owning a favorable geographical position, close to seaports, airports, roads, railways and Bai Dai area with huge tourism potential, Cam Lam is forecasted to soon become an important area of tourism and industry of the province. Up to now, Suoi Dau Industrial Zone with an area of 136.7ha has been filled and is in need of expansion. This industrial zone has 52 registered investment projects, the total registered capital of enterprises has been 189 million USD, the total implemented capital has been 98 million USD; creating jobs for more than 12,000 workers. In the south of the district, Tan Lap Industrial Cluster (in Cam Thanh Bac commune) with an area of 40ha has been approved for a 1/2000 scale planning. In the north of the district, the industrial clusters Trang E 1, Trang E 2, and Trang E 3 with an area of 152 ha have been under infrastructure construction. In which, Trang É 1 has completed its infrastructure and secondary investors are building factories to put them into operation. When these industrial clusters are completed to attract investment, they will contribute to increasing budget revenue and creating a large number of jobs for local workers.
After Nha Trang, Cam Lam tourism is an attractive destination for domestic and foreign tourists. In recent years, in the north of Cam Ranh peninsula, more and more 4-5 star hotels and resorts have been built. This area has 40 projects granted investment certificates with a total registered capital of VND 29,341 billion. Of which, 11 projects have officially come into operation; 21 projects are carrying out construction investment procedures; 6 projects are carrying out site clearance and 2 projects are carrying out procedures. Tourist attractions are gradually formed and developed. Annually, more than 155,000 tourists come here to stay, including 126,000 international ones. These strengths are the premise for the long-term development of Cam Lam.
An international-class city
More than a decade has passed, Cam Lam has now changed in a strong rise. In particular, according to Resolution 09 of the Politburo on construction and development of Khanh Hoa province to 2030, with vision to 2045, Cam Lam district is oriented to become a world-class modern, ecological airport urban area. This further gives wings to the hope of outstanding development of the political system and the people in the district.
Recently, Vingroup has reported investment ideas to the Prime Minister, proposing 3 projects with a total area of more than 16,800 hectares in Cam Lam district, including high-class airport urban area project, ecological urban project; and service, commerce, entertainment - entertainment complex projects. Accordingly, when the projects are implemented, it will turn the rural and mountainous areas into a high-class city with global intellectual center, center of health, education and the luxury health care and resort services. If approved, the project will start construction in June 2023 and 2 years later, the complex urban area will take shape.
According to Ngo Van Bao - Chairman of Cam Lam District People's Committee, being oriented by the Politburo to build Cam Lam into a world-class modern and ecological airport city is an opportunity for the district to develop and make Cam Lam into a modern city to be a destination for millions of international tourists. The district will mobilize all resources, uphold potentials and strengths, accelerate the economic restructure towards increasing the proportion of services, tourism and trade, developing industry and agriculture; continue to perfect the urban system and build social infrastructure synchronously; improve the people's living; and ensure ecological environment and social order and safety.
