Developing rural industries: Improving quality of available industries

According to the Rural Industry Development Plan in Khanh Hoa Province in 2022, which has just been approved by the Provincial People's Committee, in addition to recognizing trade villages, the State will support investment and upgrade a number of existing industries to promote promote market development associated with tourism and cultural activities, thereby helping to increase incomes for workers.

Developing traditional and strong products
 
The main objective of the Rural Industry Development Plan in the province in 2022 is to increase the scale and level of technology associated with the market; and combine production with local tourism, culture and festivals... According to Huynh Quang Thanh - Director of the Rural Development Sub-Department, the focus on developing traditional products and local strengths in the rural areas will contribute to economic restructuring, improve income and living standards for workers, effectively implement the group of criteria "Economics and production organization" in the National Criteria on rural communes.
 
This year, on the basis of registration of localities, 5 industries are oriented to develop to meet the criteria of a craft village, including: Xom Suoi rice paper (Quang Thanh village, Dien Hoa commune) and Phu Loc vermicelli (Dien Khanh town) in Dien Khanh district; cubic stone (Xuan Trang village, Xuan Son commune); dried fish and dried squid (Tay Bac village, Dai Lanh commune) and rice paper (Long Hoa village, Van Long commune) in Van Ninh district. To be recognized as a trade village, the above-mentioned production areas are required to have at least 20% of the total households in the area participating in one of the rural trades activities; have stable production and business activities for at least 2 consecutive years and satisfy environmental protection conditions as prescribed.

Building craft villages associated with tourism and expanding markets
 
Currently, the province has more than 4,700 production and business establishments in rural areas, creating regular jobs for nearly 34,000 workers with an average income of 4.5 million VND/person/month.
Up to now, there are 6 traditional occupations, 4 craft villages and 1 traditional craft village recognized by the Provincial People's Committee. The revenue from recognized traditional trades, craft villages and traditional craft villages is about 40 billion VND/year.
 
Along with the recognition of craft villages and support for the development of rural industries, this year, the agarwood industry in Phu Hoi 1 village (Van Thang commune, Van Ninh province) will be supported to develop in association with tourism and new rural area construction. Accordingly, the whole process of making agarwood, creating products from agarwood, stories about craft villages and craft people will be reproduced, simulated, and performed so that visitors can have a closer look about the craft of making agarwood and the unique products of agarwood.
 
Specifically, the State supports 850 million VND, together with 250 million VND of the craft village to carry out the following contents: surveying, assessing the current situation and planning to build a tourist spot in this craft village; opening training classes and training skills in tourism, business management, design... for households and production and business establishments. At the same time, training classes will be opened to improve vocational techniques for households doing the trade in order to improve product quality and meet the tastes of consumers in general and tourists in particular. In addition, part of the cost will be used to support equipment, machinery and raw materials for production; support trade promotion, branding, geographical indications of origin of goods, protection of trademarks, participation in fairs, tourism events inside and outside the province...
 
According to Huynh Quang Thanh, the plan also focuses on vocational training for rural establishments and craft villages according to demand; supports to improve management capacity through consulting, training, and fostering activities for officials working in the management of rural occupations in the localities. In addition, a series of trade support activities will be promoted to do marketing for products made from traditional craft villages. The total cost of implementing the plan is more than 3.56 billion VND, including more than 2.74 billion VND from the State budget of the province and districts) and the rest from the organizations and individuals.
