Non-cash payment has become popular in people's daily life, from shopping at supermarkets, fashion stores to paying for services at restaurants and hotels...
Vo Dinh Dung - Director Director of Co.opmart Nha Trang said that the percentage of customers using non-cash payment at the supermarket has increased by about 10% over the same period last year. Banks often have promotional programs such as points, gifts, refund, etc., so, more customers tend to pay by card. Currently, the supermarket has linked with 3 banks to place POS machines and pay monthly fees to banks.
Payment for public services through banks increasing
The implementation of the project to promote public service payment through banks including tax, electricity, water, tuition, hospital fees and payment of social security programs in the province has achieved good results, which has made a positive change in non-cash payment via banks. Over the past time, the tax sector has cooperated with the State Bank and commercial banks to perform well the coordination of state budget collection, connection and exchange of information and data, thereby achieving the best results in implementation of the electronic tax payment program. Turnover of electronic tax payment (via banks and other payment service providers) reached more than 96%. 100% of import and export taxes as well as customs fees and charges have been paid through the bank. Khanh Hoa Power Joint Stock Company has signed contracts with 16 commercial banks and 10 other partners to collect electricity bills. In 2021, electricity bill payment sales through banks and other payment service providers are more than VND 3,806 billion, accounting for 90.2% of total electricity bill revenue. In 2021, the whole province has 29,185 households paying water bills through banks, an increase of 13,057 households (81%) over the same period in 2020.
Besides, banks have installed 7 POS machines at schools, the payment of tuition fees through banks by the end of 2021 was about 55.14 billion VND with 12,650 items; installed 40 POS devices at hospitals, total revenue of hospital fee payment through banks reached about VND 20.8 billion with 4,840 items. The province has more than 86.6% of people receiving pensions and social insurance benefits via bank accounts.

Nguyen Hoai Chieu - Director of the State Bank - Khanh Hoa Branch said that right from the beginning of the year, the branch has issued a dispatch directing credit institutions to effectively implement the decisions of the Prime Minister and the State Bank of Vietnam, the provincial People's Committee on the project of developing non-cash payment in Khanh Hoa province in the period of 2021 - 2025; step up digital transformation and ensure safety and security of information in banking activities with many solutions. Accordingly, credit institutions need to develop a variety of new, convenient and appropriate payment products and services based on the application of modern technology, ensuring safety, security and convenience for users; promote the deployment of payment applications, products and services on mobile devices like QR code payment, card information encryption, contactless payment, e-wallet, etc. Banks continue to develop bank card services, converting bank cards from magnetic cards to chip cards; develop and increase utility functions on devices accepting card payments, ensuring safety in card payments. At the same time, credit institutions will coordinate to connect products, services and platforms with industries and fields to promote non-cash payment and electronic payment in residential areas and the public administrative services. At the same time, solutions to develop non-cash payment in rural, remote and isolated areas are also launched.
