Protecting forests
In recent years, the district's forest protection and development has been paid importance. As a result, the district's forest coverage rate has reached 76.75% so far. The whole district has 106,109 ha of forests and forestry land.
According to Nong Khanh Son - Deputy Head of Khanh Vinh District Forest Protection Department, in order to do well in forest protection, ranger force of the district has strengthened coordination with forest owners and other functional forces in patrolling, strictly handle illegal deforestation and forest exploitation. In addition, the ranger force has strengthened the dissemination of legal on forest management and protection for local people.

Support to plant 250 hectares of new forest
For sustainable forestry development, in the period of 2021 - 2025, the district determines to continue to effectively manage, protect and develop the existing forests and forestry land; implementing silvicultural projects to increase the forest cover rate in the area. As for afforestation, over the past time, forest owners in the district planted about 5,000 hectares of production forests/five-year cycle. In the 2016-2020 period, the district supported planting more than 61 hectares of concentrated forest, 80,000 scattered trees...
In the period of 2021 - 2025, the district will continue to invest in the project to support planting production forests in the area with a total cost of 1.85 billion VND. Specifically, the district will support seedlings, survey and design funding, etc., for forest owners who are organizations, households, individuals and communities who have land under the planning of afforestation for production and new planting of 250ha of concentrated forests in the two years 2023 and 2024 in the communes Giang Ly, Khanh Thuong, Lien Sang, Khanh Thanh, Song Cau and Khanh Nam. The district will also give financial support to take care of this entire planted forest area in 2 years 2024 and 2025, and support seedlings to plant more than 130,250 trees scattered in communes Son Thai, Lien Sang, Khanh Thanh and Khanh Thuong.
According to Nong Khanh Son, the concentrated afforestation support will help the district develop forestry sustainably; effectively use bare land and bare hills; encourage organizations, individuals and communities to participate in forest development activities... then contributing effectively to the implementation of the target of increasing the forest cover rate in the district as stated in the Resolution of the district Party Committee for the term 2020 - 2025 (the forest coverage rate reaches 77% or more). For the production forest support project for the period of 2021-2025, the district Forest Protection Department, assigned the task of project investor, is urgently deploying to localities and units, completing documents and procedures for afforestation from 2023.
