Supporting small and medium-sized enterprises in digital transformation

The community of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Khanh Hoa province are making many contributions to the local socio-economic development.

 

Khanh Hoa aims to be among the top 25 provinces and cities in digital transformation by 2025 in all three aspects, including digital government, digital economy and digital society. To achieve the goal, it is very important to promote digital transformation in enterprises in general and small and medium-sized enterprises in particular. According to Nguyen Van Hien - Deputy Director of the provincial Department of Information and Communications, the province has 10,445 operating enterprises. However, the participation in the digital transformation process of small and medium enterprises in the province is still slow due to many challenges.

 

 

Over the past time, ministries, branches and provinces have organized many conferences, seminars and training courses on digital transformation to support businesses to raise awareness about this issue; plan digital transformation strategies suitable to their conditions; digital transformation roadmap for businesses… In mid-May, the Digital Transformation Steering Committee of Khanh Hoa Province held a digital transformation conference, including a digital transformation program for 250 small and medium-sized enterprises. Enterprises are introduced to programs and policies to support digital transformation; learn about digital transformation platforms… In August, the provincial People's Committee held the TechFest 2022 event with more than 20 activities, including introduction on tools to support small and medium enterprises, innovative start-ups. Recently, the Department of Enterprise Development (under the Ministry of Planning and Investment) in collaboration with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) organized a training session with the topic: Vision and guidelines for implementing digital transformation for small and medium-sized enterprises. More than 200 businesses in the province have participated in the program. The training session provides businesses with an overview of digital transformation, the impact of digital transformation on business activities of enterprises, comprehensive digital transformation stages for businesses…

 

Nguyen Trung Kien - Senior Consultant Manager of Ernst & Young Vietnam Co., Ltd. said: "Small and medium enterprises that want to implement digital transformation should start with short-term projects with small investment costs. For successful digital transformation, it is important for businesses to define their goals, the changes required to achieve the goal and ultimately the use of technology.”
