According to Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Statistics, the province’s consumer price index (CPI) in January 2023 increased by 0.5% compared to December 2022.
Among 11 main groups of goods and services, 7 groups had an increase in consumer price index, including food and food services (0.93%); beverages and tobacco (0.16%); apparel, hats and footwear (0.36%); household appliances (0.72%); traffic (1.64%); culture, entertainment and services, tourism (0.13%); other goods and services (0.55%). Group of housing, electricity, water, fuel, and construction materials saw a decrease by 0.27%. The groups of goods and services with stable consumer price indexes were drugs and medical equipment; post and telecommunications; and education.
The main reasons for the increase in January CPI were the increase in apartment buildings’ service fees compared to December 2022; gasoline price, which was adjusted up once; and sharp increase in demand for food, passenger transport by road, rail and air during Tet days.
