Hyundai Vietnam Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. name 2 oil tankers of 50,000 tons

Hyundai Vietnam Shipbuilding Co., Ltd (HVS) held a naming ceremony for two oil tankers S521 and S522 on August 22. The delegates attending the ceremony were Kim Hyung Kwan, general director of the parent company in Korea; Lee Jong Chan, general director of HVS, ship owner of Asiatic Lloyd (Singapore) and the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS).

At the ceremony, Audra Low, CEO of Clifford Capital named ship S521 Bantry Bay; Tan Beng Tee, director of Singapore Maritime Foundation, named ship S522 Herolds Bay. These are the two tankers among the six ships of Asiatic Lloyd. Each tanker has deadweight of 50,000 tons, is 183m long, 32.2m wide, 11m high. The tankers are expected to be handed over at the end of September 2023.

Reportedly, by August 2023, HVS has handed over 8 out 13 ships planned in 2023 with a turnover of over USD300 million, achieving 54% of the 2023 plan. Since switching to building new ships, HVS has built and handed over 159 ships, of which 63% are oil tankers with deadweight from 37,000 tons to 115,000 tons, to countries around the world.
